FAQs For Fire Inspector 1
Functionality You Will Love
01
Are there any prerequisites?
There is no prerequisite to take Fire Inspector 1A, but you must complete 1A before taking any of the other Inspector 1 classes. Once you complete 1A, you can take 1B, 1C, and 1D out of order, but we strongly recommend taking them in order as the classes build on each other. This class is a great fit for all people looking to explore Fire Inspector as a career path including students with no Fire Department experience and firefighters.
03
What do I need for class?
A functioning laptop is required for class. We will show you how to use online versions of the California Fire Code and California Building Code.
02
Is this a state certified class?
Yes, this class is state certified. More information can be found by clicking on the FAQ tab towards the top of the page. Please note these classes give you a certificate of completion and not a certification. To become certified with the state, you must take these classes and complete the Fire Inspector 1 taskbook while working as a Fire Inspector for a Fire Department. Entry level positions do not expect you to be certified, but saying you already have taken the classes can be helpful during an interview.
04
Why should I take the classes here?
We strongly encourage you to explore your options and select classes that fit your schedule the best. You do not have to take every class at the same location. You could take 1A with us and 1B at a local community college. We are confident in the training we provide and discuss a variety of topics that go beyond the state mandated curriculum including reviewing job descriptions and interview preparation. We engage with our students before, during, and after class to ensure they feel supported. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us with any question using the Let's Chat button or the contact form on the home page.
