Frequently Asked Questions

You Asked, We Answered

What are the payment options and refund policy?

Currently, we only accept credit card and Apple Pay. If your department wants to write a check or discuss payment options, please reach out to us using the Contact us tab towards the top of the page or the Let's Chat button.

We offer a full refund if you cancel at least 72 hours prior to the start of class. Anything cancelled less than 72 hours prior to the start of class may not be refunded or incur a processing fee of $50.

Are there any requirements to take Fire Inspector 1A?

No! There are no requirements to take Fire Inspector 1A. We strongly recommend that you have a willingness to learn and a strong interest in Community Risk Reduction and Fire Prevention as a career. We talk extensively about career options in 1A so if you are unsure if this for you, we encourage you to sign up for 1A and see if you like it before committing to the rest of the classes.

The only requirement to take Fire Inspector 1B, 1C, and 1D is completing Fire Inspector 1A which means 1B, 1C, and 1D can be taken out of order. We strongly encourage students to take them in order as the classes do build upon themselves and will feel disjointed if you take them out of order. We plan to teach the Fire Inspector 1 Series at least 2 times a year so we hope there will be opportunity to work around your schedule and still take the classes in order.

When will you be teaching Fire Inspector 2, Plans Examiner, or another class I want to take?

Now! We plan to teach at least 1 Plans Examiner and at least 1 Fire Inspector 2 series a year. We will adjust those numbers based on demand.

If your department would like to host or sponsor a class please reach out to us for details.

Is this a certified California State Fire Marshal Class?

Yes! We do not allow students to sign up for any of our classes until the State Fire Marshal has officially approved our class schedule request. If you successfully complete the class, you will receive a digital certificate of completion from the State Fire Marshal for the class. You can find any official State Fire Marshal class by filtering Program Category to Fire Inspector 1 (or any class you are looking for):  https://osfmsft.acadisonline.com/acadisviewer/Registration/ListOfAvailableTraining

Please note that these classes give you a certificate of completion and not a certification. To become certified with the state of California as a Fire Inspector, you must complete these classes and complete a taskbook with job performance requirements while working for a Fire Department. Entry level positions do not require you have your taskbook completed, but it can be helpful during interviews to say you have already taken these classes. Please note these classes do no guarantee you a job, but we do talk about career paths, job prospects, and interview preparation during class.

What if I do not know my SFT ID?

If you cannot remember it, we will help you find it the first day of class.

If you have never attended a State Fire Marshal class you will not have an SFT ID yet. We will help you register for one prior to the star of class or on the first day of class.

Is there a dress code for class?

The direct answer is no. We ask that you not wear anything with offensive language or any political statements on it. We believe you should be comfortable in a learning environment. If you have any specific questions, please feel free to contact us using the Let's Chat button or Contact Us tab towards the top of the page.
